Sewer Lines & Repair

Sewer lines play an important part in homes and businesses. Main lines or sewer lines are responsible for connecting your home or business to the city sewer or septic tank. All of the water and items that go down the sink, shower, disposal, and toilet flows through the sewer line all the way to the city sewer system or septic tank. These lines are typically long due to the city sewer or septic tank being located outside and away from the home or business. Sewer lines are typically wider and sloped in a downward position to increase the flow of water and waste from the home/business and into the city sewer or septic tank.

With various drains and pipes connecting to the sewer line, leaks and clogs can have a significant impact on the fixtures in your home or business. They can cause back-ups resulting in sewage coming out of areas such as your toilet, bathtub, or shower. This can lead to noises such as gurgling sounds coming from your drains and foul sewage smells.

What are Sewer Line Repair Services?

There are different sewer line repair options and each depends on the problem that exists. Due to the constant usage, sewer lines can face issues such as clogs, leaks, deterioration, and damage. Clogs typically result from accumulation of debris and buildup from items that go down the drains. Leaks and damages can be caused by many external factors such as roots from trees, chemicals from cleaning solutions and chemical drain cleaners, earthquakes, and more. Deterioration is simply the result of time and usage. While pipes are manufactured and installed to last a long time, nothing is built to last forever and with time sewer lines will weaken and deteriorate.

So what are some plumbing repair options for clogged or damaged sewer lines?

  1. Hydro Jetting– When dealing with clogged and blocked sewer lines, hydro jetting is one of the most effective solutions. Hydro jetting uses high pressure water to break up the cause of your clog and flush it out of your main line and into the city sewer or septic tank.
  2. Trench Plumbing– Sewer lines run outside of the home or business into the city sewer or septic tank which means the line most likely goes through an outdoor space. In order to access the line, plumbers will need to dig a trench to access the sewer line and perform the necessary repairs. Once these repairs are completed, the line is covered back up with the dirt that was dug up.
