Parma Cucina Italiana
There are of course, quite literally hundreds of restaurants in San Diego, CA, but one that consistently ranks among the favorites is the Parma Cucina Italiana Restaurant, where their motto is quite simple: Food with “Amore”! Franca and Celso came to beautiful San Diego to retire and spend time with their daughter after owning and operating restaurants over a 30-year span in Italy. However, they quickly realized that their true joy was cooking – thus Parma was started. The inspiration for the name coming from their original hometown of Parma and the world’s famous pizza maker, Barilla. Parma is “Authentic” Italian food and offers the Northern Italian Cuisine, fresh ingredients, and simple presentations. Parma offers down to earth ambiance and fantastic Italian cuisine and is sure to be a staple in San Diego for years to come. Celso is the chef and his specialty is pasta, with special attention to his lasagna and tortellini and Franca is the dessert chef with unforgettable creations such as homemade Tiramisu, and the ‘to die for’ Profiteroles alla Nutella, always a crowd pleaser. Parma is described as ….” Homemade cooking combined with a dash of love and exceptional flavor”. Parma, in San Diego is authentic as it gets. Guests and patrons come for true authentic Italian and leave with the experience of yes, Food with “amore”!
Kono’s Café in San Diego is an amazing place with a warm and comfortable vibe, ocean facing deck and some of the best muffins to be found “anywhere”. They are located right on the beach which just makes everything taste better by that fact alone. Kono’s opened in July of 1991. Inspired by a small eatery in Ensenada, owners, Kathy, and Steve, intended to open a Mexican restaurant that offered cone shaped tacos giving Kono’s its name. The idea for egg burritos, a rarity at the time, came from summers in Baja where they would have fresh tortillas with every meal, including breakfast. By the time they were able to start renovations at their original location, it seems their simple concept had struck a chord with the local surfers, who were and still are Kono’s most regular customers. Eventually Kono’s expanded its operation and the area began to thrive, becoming what it is today. In July of 2016, a new location, named Konito’s , in the Pacific Plaza Shopping Center opened and with the same commitment to quality and service as the original Kono’s, they know have an “inland” location. In large part due to the ongoing support of the Pacific Beach community, and the dedication of their crew, Kono’s has remained one of San Diego favorites since 1991 and shows no signs of not being a favorite. You can’t go wrong with a stop at Kono’s.
