I had a busy day today with many things to do in San Diego, CA. It started with me waking up earlier than I wanted to. Morning always comes early and I don’t look forward to it, but what am I going to do? I knew it was time to get up and take the dogs out, so I did so right away. Thankfully, it was pretty warm this morning, and they did their business quickly enough. I never know how they are going to act in the morning. Sometimes they want long walks and don’t want to do their business right away.
After I came back in, I realized my daughter was up. I got her changed and gave her breakfast right away. As she was watching cartoons, I did my workout and got dressed. It started feeling cooler here in San Diego, CA., mostly because of the wind chill we have going on. My husband works at home, so I decided it would be in my best interest to entertain our daughter for a little bit, so he would have time to work in peace and quiet. This usually requires some planning on my behalf.
First, we worked on a couple of activities. She had some drawing books that I tried to work with her on. However, she loses attention quickly because she is two. Next, I tried to read her a story. I read Corduroy the bear, but she ended up tearing the book out of my hands and flinging it across the room before I could finish. Oh well, I thought to myself, maybe it’s one of those days. I let her play with toys for about an hour, and then I asked if she wanted to watch TV while I fed her something.
She ate, but I could tell she was starting to get cranky. It was then I decided it would be best if I put her down for a nap. Thankfully out here in San Diego, CA., it stays light even though we have turned the clocks back. I let her sleep while I started working on my own writing. Pretty soon, I heard my daughter crying. My husband was not done with work, and I was frustrated that she was up again so soon. I went to her room and brpught her out. It’s hard when she doesn’t want to sleep as long as she should.
I let her watch TV, and pretty soon my husband was done with work. I tried to get stuff done, but then I realized it would be easy if we just took her to the Wal-Mart here in San Diego, CA., and let her run around for a bit. Although going to stores gets annoying, it is the one thing we can do that tires our daughter out and makes her happy. This, in turn, makes bedtime easier. It’s late here again, and I know morning will come far too early, but that’s life!
